KK47000 | Safari chair limited edition
Kaare Klint, 1933
Kaare Klint’s Safari Chair is now available in this limited edition thanks to a unique collaboration between Carl Hansen & Søn and Hiut Denim Co.
Kaare Klint was spurred on to design the Safari Chair in 1933, after being inspired by Indian Roorkhee Chairs used by the British military that he spotted in pictures of African safaris.
Light and very functional with an elegant silhouette, the chair boasts a solid ash frame consisting of just 11 components. Easily assembled and disassembled without the use of tools, this chair is the epitome of fine craftsmanship, well-conceived proportions, and remarkable materials.
Beautifully finished with saddle leather armrests, the chair and its removable cushion are upholstered in organic artisan-crafted Hiut Denim Co. denim for a truly unique twist on a classic design.
The archetype featured glue-less joints, tool-free assembly, and an intelligent construction that caused the joints to tighten when the chair was occupied, enhancing strength and stability
The chair is made of solid wood and features a canvas or leather seat and back. The armrests are produced in saddle leather.
